Art dealer Anthony d’Offay faces allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour by three women with whom he has previously worked, the Guardian reports. The incidents are said to have taken place between 1997 and 2004 and involve accounts of both verbal and physical sexual harassment, including inappropriate phone calls, humiliation and unwanted physical contact. The 78-year-old dealer, who is known for selling millions of pounds worth of art from his collection for the price he originally paid (£28 million instead of £125m) to the Tate’s Artists Rooms project in 2008, denies the allegations. In December 2017 d’Offay retired as ‘ex-officio curator’ of the Artists Rooms. In light of this investigation Tate and National Galleries Scotland, who jointly manage the Artists Rooms programme, have suspended further contact with the dealer.
