The Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow has announced the list of artists who will take part in the museum’s inaugural Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art, scheduled to open on 10 March. Gathering work by 68 artists working within Russia, the exhibition will attempt to channel ‘the zeitgeist of the past five years, focusing on some of the most active and influential cultural figures, and offering insight into the diversity of social tendencies that constitute the underexplored Russian art scene’.
Kate Fowle, Garage’s chief curator, led the curatorial team into researching art across the country, travelling to 42 cities and towns to meet the artists. Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, the show will comprise of seven sections including: Master Figure, Personal Mythologies, Fidelity to Place, Common Language, Art in Action, Street Morphology and Local Histories of Art.
