The fourth edition of Paris Photo Los Angeles, scheduled to take place at Paramount Studios between 29 April and 1 May 2016, has been cancelled – and so has the planned launch of FIAC Los Angeles, which had already been postponed from 2015 to 2016. Reed Exhibitions France, the organisers of both fairs, said the decision was due to ‘the absence of a mature market in terms of art fairs of this scale and scope’ in Los Angeles, explaining that ‘the level of sales during Paris Photo Los Angeles is not sufficient to support such a fair and to offer our exhibitors the best conditions of return on their investment’.
The two French fairs will still hold their Paris editions at the Grand Palais (FIAC from 20 to 23 October and Paris Photo from 10 to 13 November) while the organisers keep looking for ‘other paths for the international development and expansion of [the] fairs’.
