Kochi Biennale Foundation has announced it’s first list of 35 participating artists for the 2018 edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale. This year’s biennale will be directed by Indian artist Anita Dube, appointed by an artistic advisory committee. Dube will continue the biennale’s tradition of having an artist curate the exhibition. Although the theme and title of the 4th edition has not yet been announces, Dube has said: ‘My earliest intuitive vision for this edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale to explore the possibilities for a non-alienated life has remained with me. The need to listen, think, and learn with each other, particularly voices from the margins—of women, of the queer community, the oppressed castes, the whispers and signs of nature—with a spirit of freedom and comradeship is vital. In both the exhibition and the carefully designed interactive spaces, I hope the incredible range of exhibiting artists and visitors will become active participants and co-producers of the Biennale as a knowledge laboratory.’
Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2018 will take place from 12 December 2018 until 29 March 2019.
