Samson Young to represent Hong Kong at the 2017 Venice Biennale

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council and M+ have announced that Samson Young will represent Hong Kong at the 57th edition of Venice Biennale next year, ArtAsiaPacific reports. The two organisations have also named Ying Kwok, who was formerly the curator at the Chinese Arts Centre in Manchester, UK, as the guest curator for the pavilion. Samson Young is an artist and composer whose work focuses on the power and politics of sound. In 2015 he was awarded the inaugural BMW Art Journey Award. He has upcoming exhibitions at Experimenter gallery in Kolkata, India, in August, and the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf in December.
