New York-based nonprofit Performa has been awarded a $460,000 grant by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to open a curatorial fellowship program, which will provide a two-year comprehensive training programme to four post-doctoral scholars specialising in performance. Each curatorial fellow will be given the opportunity to develop a research or production project for the biennial.
Performa’s founder RoseLee Goldberg said in a statement that the programme was intended to equip curators who are taking up ‘positions in the performance art departments now being established in many museums’ with the relevant skills needed. The application deadline for the 2015–2017 fellowship is March 31.
