Patrick Hough and Lawrence Lek have won the 2017 Jerwood/FVU award. They were chosen from 240 applicants by a judging panel consisting of Steven Bode, director, FVU; Duncan Campbell, artist and Turner Prize 2014 winner; Cliff Lauson, curator, Hayward Gallery; Amy Sherlock, reviews editor, Frieze; and Sarah Williams, head of programme, Jerwood Visual Arts.

Based on their proposals which look at the way histories are made, both in the speculative future where machines might write their own history and how we fabricate the past, each artist will receive £20,000 to develop new moving-image works for exhibition in spring 2017.
