The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum has announced the launch of the new Social Practice Art Initiative which seeks to develop new forms of public engagement through artist projects which engage with the community. The initiative has been made possible by a grant from the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation.

Two commissions, to be run by Marc Bamuthi Joseph and Jon Rubin and Lenka Clayton, have been selected by the museum as the first Social Practice Projects to be developed and presented in New York City in 2016 and 2017.
