Brian Curtin appointed director of Sàn Art

Brian Curtin has been announced as the new director and curator of Sàn Art, the non-profit arts organisation based in Ho Chi Minh City. He will take up his role in April. Among his responsibilities, Curtin will oversee Sàn Art’s training programme for curators from Vietnam and Southeast Asia, as well as the relaunch of Sàn Art Laboratory, a studio and residency programme.

Based in Bangkok since 2000, Curtin is an art writer, curator of contemporary art and lecturer of art history and visual culture at the Faculty of Architecture of Chulalongkorn University. Curtin holds a PhD in studio art from the University of Bristol. He has curated shows across China, New York, Korea, the UK and Thailand, where he directed the experimental venue H Project Space in Bangkok from 2011–18.
