Cristina Ricupero and Jörg Heiser have been appointed artistic directors of the 2018 Busan Biennale in South Korea, scheduled to open on 8 September.
Paris-based Ricupero has curated shows internationally, including in South Korea where she served a jury for the 2012 Hermès Foundation Missulsang and a curatorial adviser for the SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul in 2016. Heiser is a writer and editor based in Berlin. He has worked for publications including German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and Frieze, and is the director of the Institute for Art in Context at the University of the Arts in Berlin. The pair, who had already collaborated on the public art festival Nuit Blanche in Monaco, applied as a team back in 2016.
