Turkish fashion label Dice Kayek wins Jameel Prize 3

Turkish fashion label Dice Kayek, run by sisters Ece and Ayse Ege have won the £25,000 Jameel Prize 3, for their garment collection Istanbul Contrast (2010), inspired by the city’s artistic and architectural heritage. 

The biennial award, presented at the V&A in London on 10 December 2013, honours contemporary artists and designers inspired by Islamic traditions of art, craft and design.

An exhibition of work by Dice Kayek and the nine other short-listed artists and designers, Faig Ahmed, Nasser Al Salem, Nada Debs, Mounir Fatmi, Rahul Jain, Waqas Khan, Laurent Mareschal, Florie Salnot and Pascal Zoghbi continues at the V&A through 21 April 2014.
