Following student demonstrations and the burning of paintings by Rhodes Must Fall protesters, the University of Cape Town have taken down a number of paintings deemed to be ‘offensive’, Spiked reports. The protests of ‘snowflake’ students (a term used to describe an increasingly sociopolitically sensitive generation of university-goers) and the threat of destruction has resulted in the removal and covering up of more than 75 ‘vulnerable’ artworks from display – works which include Stanley Pinker’s Decline and Fall and Diane Victor’s Pasiphaë (2001–3).
