The 2016 Goslarer Kaiserring has been awarded to the American artist, poet and activist Jimmie Durham. Established in 1975, the Goslar Kaiserring (‘the Emperor’s ring’) is an honorary award attributed to contemporary visual artists; previous winners include Andreas Gursky, Bridget Riley, David Lynch, Olafur Eliasson, Wiebke Siem and most recently Boris Mikhailov.
Durham will receive the Kaiserring in the city of Goslar on 8 October 2016.
