Raimund Thomas, founder of Munich-based Galerie Thomas has been awarded the Art Cologne Prize 2016. The annual prize is awarded by the German association of galleries and art dealers (BVDG) and Koelnmesse for exceptional performance in the communication of art. Galerie Thomas celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in 2014, last year’s winner winner, Galerie Hans Mayer, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015.
Previous winners of the prize include Nicholas Serota (2004), Rudolf Zwirner (2006), Harald Falckenberg (2009), family Grässlin (2010), Michael Werner (2011), Fred Jahn (2013) and Rosemarie Schwarzwälder (2014). The prize will be awarded during Art Cologne on 14 April in Cologne’s historic city hall.
