Established in 2012 by Aya Mousawi and Simon Sakhai, The Moving Museum will be organising up its next show in Istanbul. Launched as a non-profit Community Interest Company, the Museum sets up selling shows of contemporary art in cities around the globe to coincide with fairs, biennials and other major art events, contributing to those cities through accompanying outreach activities.
From 1 August through October 2014 the Museum will host 40 international artists in Istanbul, Hito Steyerl, Aslı Çavusoglu, Jon Rafman, Ben Shumacher, Nilbar Güres, George Henry Longly, Volkan Aslan, Ming Wong, Jumana Manna and Mai-Thu Perret among them, who have each been commissioned to work on a local project. The residency period will also include a curated public programme of events, talks, workshops, lectures, and performances, and will culminate in a major exhibition at the end of October.
