Lisson Gallery have announced that they will open a new space in New York in May 2016 with a show by Cuban artist Carmen Herrera (3 May – 18 June). Although the gallery already had an office in New York, this will be their first gallery space in the city, and their fourth overall, alongside their two spaces in London and one in Milan. Alex Logsdail, international director of the gallery (and son of founder Nicholas Logsdail), will be directing the new space.

Located in a new building under the High Line and designed by studioMDA and Studio Christian Wassmann, the venue will total 8,500 square feet, 4,500 square feet of which will be gallery space and the other 4,000 devoted to offices, viewing spaces, and storage. Following Herrera’s show will be the first solo exhibition in the US by acclaimed filmmaker and artist John Akomfrah (1 July – 12 August ), a new installation by Ryan Gander (16 September – 15 October), and an exhibition of new work by Ai Weiwei (5 November – 16 December 2016).
