Martha Rosler is the first recipient of the 100K Prize, a biennial award presented by the New Foundation in Seattle to an influential, U.S.-based woman artist for her achievements in the field, and comprising a $100,000 (approx. £66,000) unrestricted cash award from the Foundation and a full year of exhibitions and public programs in Seattle.
Martha Rosler (1943, Brooklyn, New York) received an M.F.A. from the University of California, San Diego and has taught at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Her work has been included in major exhibitions, including the 50th Venice Biennale; 2004 Taipei Biennial; Documentas 7 and 12, Kassel, and several Whitney Biennials, New York, and she was the subject a retrospective at MoMA in 2012. Rosler was awarded the Spectrum International Prize in Photography for 2005, the Anonymous Was A Woman Award in 2007 and in 2010, she received a Guggenheim Museum Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
