Protestors against the Louvre’s sponsorship by oil companies Total and Eni were arrested outside the Louvre yesterday, for walking barefoot through fake oil spilled on the floor of the museum atrium, The Art Newspaper reports. The Demonstrations, coinciding with COP21, the UN conference on climate change taking place in Paris (though 11 December), included groups from the US, Norway and Art Not Oil and Liberate Tate from the UK, all seeking to sever the relationships between cultural institutions and major oil companies.
