The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will be doubling its space devoted to photography, when it reopens after its major expansion, scheduled for 2016, The New York Times reports.
The new Photography Center, being built on the Museum’s third floor, and which will have more than 11,000 square metres of space, will include a print study center, an interpretive center for the study of the history and social role of photography, and new storage facilities.
The Center is being financed by gifts from photography collectors John and Lisa Pritzker, after whom the space will be named, and by four other benefactors.
