Leslie Waddington, 1934–2015

Waddington Custot Galleries announced the death of gallery founder Leslie Waddington, at the age of 81. One of the first to open a gallery on London’s Cork Street in 1966, Waddington introduced the work of the Colour Field and Post War American artists to London and solidified the reputation of British painters such as Peter Blake, Patrick Caulfield, Terry Frost and Patrick Heron. In 2011, Waddington Galleries became Waddington Custot Galleries, partnering up with London-based French dealer Stephane Custot. In 2013, Waddington received with the Federation of European Art Galleries Association lifetime achievement award.
