Elisabeth Millqvist, who for a decade has headed up the Wanås Konst Sculpture Park in rural Sweden, will move to the south coastal port of Malmö as the new co-director of the city’s Moderna Museet.
At Wanås Konst, which is set in the grounds of a medieval castle and sees around 75,000 visitors annually, Mellquist introduced several new commissions to the leafy site, including work by Igshaan Adams, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, William Forsythe, Yoko Ono, and Rana Begum.
In 2009 the Moderna Museet in Stockholm opened its second venue in a former electricity plant. Programming independently from the Stockholm original, Millqvist, alongside incumbent co-director Mattias Givell, says she wishes to expand the institution’s dance and performance programme.
