The Spanish Ministry of Council has announced that Manuel Segade has been appointed director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. Segada will be departing his current post as the director of the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Madrid to helm Spain’s national museum of twentieth century art, following the abrupt resignation of the museum’s former director Manuel Borja-Villel in January.
Prior to his stint at CA2M, Segada was programme coordinator of Metrònom de la Fundación Rafael Tous d’Art Contemporani, Barcelona and chief curator of the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea in Santiago de Compostela. Segade curated the Spanish Pavilion of the 2017 Venice Biennale which featured installations by Jordi Colomer.
