The Eyal Ofer Family Foundation gives £10 million towards Tate Modern’s new development

In recognition of International shipping magnate Eyal Ofer’s donation of £10 million Tate modern will be renaming its Level 3 East exhibition galleries the Eyal Ofer Galleries. Tate Modern’s development, to be completed by 2016, will increase Tate Modern’s size by 60%, with The Ofer Family Foundation’s gift bringing  the total raised so far to 85% of the £215 million capital costs. Construction work is currently underway on the installation of a new bridge across Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall to join the existing galleries on Level 4 to the new building.
