Asia Art Archive (AAA) has announced the appointment of Christopher K. Ho as its new executive director. Ho, an artist and educator, takes up the role following the news that AAA’s cofounder Claire Hsu stepped down from her position as the non-profit’s executive director after 20 years.
Previously, Ho was a faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design (2000 –2018), and has taught at Cranbrook Art Academy, Virginia Commonwealth University, the Maryland Institute College of Art, and Pratt Institute. He has also served on the boards of AAA in America and AAA (from 2015 and 2018 respectively) until 2021, and has been involved in other non-profit organisations including Apex Art, Art in General, NURTUREart, and Telluride Arts. His works have recently been included at group shows Meditations in an Emergency at UCCA, Beijing (2020), Next Act: Contemporary Art from Hong Kong at Asia Society Hong Kong (2020), and Forget Sorrow Grass: An Archaeology of Feminine Time at Times Museum, Guangdong (2019). His solo exhibitions have included Embassy S_ites at Tomorrow Maybe, Hong Kong (2019) and Aloha to the World at the Don Ho Terrace at Bronx Museum, New York (2018).
