Maud Page has been appointed as the tenth director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, taking over the role from outgoing director Michael Brand. Page will be the Gallery’s first woman director.
Currently deputy director and director of collections, Page joined the Art Gallery in 2017. Through that tenure, the Gallery has engaged with new audiences through community outreach initiatives, international blockbuster exhibitions and a focus on engaging children in art, with the opening of the Children’s Art Library and the Hive Children’s Festival.
‘With over two decades of experience in art galleries, Maud is highly respected both nationally and internationally for her exceptional curatorial vision and financial acumen. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to community engagement, broadening cultural perspectives and attracting new audiences to public institutions for the benefit of all’, president of the Art Gallery of NSW Trust, Michael Rose said in a statement.
Page will begin her role on 28 March.
